SELF POWERED PHOTOVOLTAIC LIGHTS WITH VRLA BATTERIES

Autonomous photovoltaic lighting systems with solar panels and Deep Discharge Batteries or (GEL) lead batteries are one of the first methods used to provide solar illumination energy.

Solar panels can be 12VDC or 24VDC, and batteries can range from 50Ah to 200Ah mounted on top of the lighting pole  behind the panel.

Larger batteries are not recommended for static pole reasons, and the practice of placing batteries in the lighting pole base or inside the shaft proved incorrect because it is vulnerable to theft.

For lamps, either 8W 12VDC to 40W 12VDC LEDs are used but with a limited life time. The best solution is self-powered LED lights with built-with Lithium batteries and a life time of over 50,000 hours.

There is a limit to the maximum power of the lights in Watt using VRLA batteries, due to the size of the batteries to achieve two to three days of autonomy without sunshine.
